Overview

The School of Medicine has a rich, successful history in research, education and patient care. It pioneered bedside teaching and led in the transformation from empirical knowledge into scientific medicine. From the earliest days, there has been an understanding that “investigation and practice are one in spirit, method and object.” To this end, The Division of Geriatrics & Nutritional Science dedicates itself to:

• Excellence in patient care. U.S. News & World Report ranked the School of Medicine among the best in the country for 2007.

• State of the art research. The Division combines world-class clinical research with a vigorous basic science core composed of established cell and molecular biologists and physiologists.

• Thorough training and practical education for physicians and other health professionals. Special opportunities exist for students, residents and pre- and post-doctoral fellows.
